LANGUAGE AND INTERPRETER SKILLS ASSESSMENT FOR BUSINESS AND GOVERNMENT We offer two assessments that are designed to evaluate employees' language skills and screen potential interpreters. In addition to measuring a candidate's bilingual capacity, they measure the candidate's compentency as a professional interpreter. The assessments are based on the Language Proficiency Scale developed by the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), which is the most comprehensive standard used today in the U.S. foreign language teaching community. Testing is performed over the phone and is scheduled at the convenience of the interpreter or your organization. We can administer assessments in more than 30 languages. Bilingual Fluency Assessment The 30-minute Bilingual Fluency Assessment evaluates the candidate on the following items. Each language is evaluated separately. - Oral fluency and listening comprehension in English and the target language
- Vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and syntax
- Ability to convert in the consecutive mode of interpretation while maintaining accuracy and completeness
- Clarity
- Flow of speech
Interpreter Readiness Assessment The 15-minute Interpreter Readiness Assessment evaluates the candidate on the following items: - Vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and syntax
- Oral fluency and listening comprehension in English and the target language
- Ability to convert in the consecutive mode of interpretation while maintaining accuracy and completeness
As with the Bilingual Fluency Assessment, this assessment does not include industry standards or protocols. |
