Through our involvement with medical and social service agencies, Pacific Interpreters has developed a reputation for providing high quality services to the Limited English Proficient (LEP) population and the providers who serve them. We are always looking for medically qualified interpreters and translators who understand both the needs and difficulties faced by the LEP population and the health and human services providers.
All of our interpreters must be highly qualified and pass rigorous screening and assessment. Pacific Interpreters' success depends in large part on the quality of our interpreters.
Applicant Requirements
- Oral and written proficiency in English and the target language(s).
- At least one year of experience interpreting within the medical industry.
- Strict adherence to Pacific Interpreter's Interpreter Code of Ethics, Standards of Behavior, and Confidentiality Pledge.
- All candidates must have U.S. citizenship or possess a valid work permit.
- All candidates must pass a criminal background check prior to hiring.
- Excellent customer service skills. The ability to interact with people of different cultures, religious beliefs, educational levels, and socioeconomic groups.
Over-the-Phone Interpreters must also have a landline phone. Privacy Guard or other call screening technology is not permitted.
On-site Interpreters must also have a driver's license and a reliable, insured vehicle.
Hiring Process

- Once your application is received by our Recruitment Department,
you will be contacted within three business days for a brief interview.
- You will be contacted to do a 30–50 minute language test by phone in your target language. The test will cover medical terminology and Professional Interpreter Standards.
- You will be mailed an orientation packet and contracts.
- We will contact you to join an orientation by phone or on-site (depending on which position you have applied for). Each orientation takes 90 minutes.
